Rope Rescue Specialist

The Rope Rescue Specialist (RRS), formerly known as Rope Rescue Technician Advanced (RRTA), is an advanced training programme designed for experienced rope rescue personnel who have already completed foundational and intermediate training and are looking to further specialise their technical capability.

This course builds directly on the Rope Rescue Technician (RRT) programme and moves beyond core system construction into more complex, high-level rescue problem solving. It focuses on the design, implementation, and management of advanced rope rescue systems in challenging and technical environments.

Participants will explore advanced artificial high directional systems and their varied applications, including steep-angle, diagonal, and horizontal span configurations. The course also covers the use of multiple track lines in highline operations, allowing for greater system control, redundancy, and operational flexibility in complex rescue scenarios.

Additional areas of study include industrial lead climbing techniques, a deeper understanding of loads and forces within multi-point systems, and advanced incident management principles. Training is heavily scenario-based, enabling candidates to apply their knowledge in realistic, evolving operational environments that require critical thinking, teamwork, and adaptability.

By the end of the course, participants will have developed the competence and confidence to operate at a specialist level within rope rescue environments, contributing to the planning and execution of highly technical rescue operations.
