Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) inspectors course

UK legislation, including the Work at Height Regulations 2005 (WAH) and the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER), requires that all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is thoroughly examined and inspected at defined intervals by a “competent person.”

A competent person is defined as someone who has the appropriate training, experience, knowledge, and personal attributes to carry out these duties effectively and safely. As part of the course, delegates complete both practical and written assessments.

Successful completion demonstrates that participants have achieved the required level of competence to carry out inspections on a range of equipment. Our low instructor-to-student ratio ensures high-quality, focused instruction throughout the three-day programme, allowing for discussion and in-depth exploration of less familiar topics.

Apex PPE courses are recognised as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for Mountain Training Association (MTA) members. MTA members wishing to log CPD can do so via their Candidate Management System (CMS) account using the “Add CPD” function.

Open courses are delivered at our training facility in North Wales, with the option to run closed courses for specific organisations either at our centre or at a venue of your choice.
